In recent years, platelet volume indices (MPV and related parameters) have attracted the attention of researchers as potential biomarkers reflecting platelet activity and the status of the hemostatic system. The relevance of studying these parameters stems from their potential role in predicting thrombotic complications, inflammatory processes, and cardiovascular diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical significance of platelet volume indices and determine their role in interdisciplinary practice. The methodology involved analyzing laboratory data from patients with various pathological conditions, comparing MPV values with clinical outcomes, and examining correlations with other biochemical markers. The results demonstrated that elevated MPV is associated with platelet activation and an increased risk of thrombosis, whereas decreased values may reflect suppressed functional activity. Additionally, changes in platelet volume indices were found to correlate with the severity of inflammatory processes and could be used to monitor disease progression. The study concludes that platelet volume indices hold diagnostic and prognostic potential; however, their application requires the standardization of measurement methods and further research to clarify their clinical significance. The practical value of this work lies in the potential to integrate these parameters into comprehensive diagnostic protocols and interdisciplinary patient management.
